I loved it!

"Not His Type" was a joyful surprise. Well written, it kept me captivated to the last page. Jake is a handsome playboy who enjoys beautiful women. Unfortunately the women he dates seem to lack substance or are too clingy and needy. Anna is a shy, kind of mousy librarian when Jake meets her and proceeds to knock her books out of her hands. According to Jake she is definitely NOT his type. There appears to be nothing special about her, but she slowly over time gets under his skin. Their love story is sweet with a few challenges thrown to keep it interesting. I especially appreciated that there was no foul language. I enjoyed it so much, I bought the first book of the series and plan on reading all of them.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book to review.

Simple Love Story

This was book was a nice, sweet love story. The conflicts and drama didn't last very long - they were usually resolved in a few pages. But that being said, the story had a down-to-earth, wistul feeling to it that made me envision what a nice life it would if I were Anna. I kept thinking throughout the story that when my sons start dating, I would like them to read this book as kind of a "how to" on how they should treat their girlfriends/future wives! I know that sounds silly, but this story had a lot of good examples of how Christians should treat each other while dating, not the secular things that are shown on TV. Now if I could only get them to read love stories . . . That is another subject for another day! I was given a complimentary copy in order ton review it.

Not His Type

I enjoyed reading this book. It gave me hope. I have a disability because of a stroke and have been told some unkind but not thoughtless things by well meaning friends which made me very self conscious. While I am not about to have a make over, it is nice to know that there are people of the opposite sex that will still find me attractive. Overall, it was a sweet story. I enjoyed the 'no sex, no bad language' aspect very much. I would like to see more like this; not all of us are 'able bodied' as the majority of books portray so it was soooooooo nice to see one which I can relate to.

FOLGER Shakespeare Library Edition of the Tragedy of King Lear BETTER THAN EXPECTED!

I have reviewed several current editions of King Lear and other Shakespearean plays, and was somewhat disappointed in the Folger edition of King Richard III. Nevertheless, the Folger Shakespeare Library edition of King Lear appears to be both accessible and scholarly, with solid reasoning behind its balance of the First Quarto with the First Folio versions of this intense and telling tragedy which we do well to revisit now.

My first love will always be Prof. Tucker Brook's redaction in the The Tragedy Of King Lear (The Yale Shakespeare) which against the academic preferences of the time chose the First Quarto over the First Folio. The reasons given by the Late Prof. are compelling, and brought about a generation of conflated editions which combined the two versions. The Quarto came first in publication, of course, and is longer; the Folio is later and does not contain several lines present in the Quarto (I believe about three hundred) yet introduces several (perhaps one hundred) of its own.

And so we have a generation of productions which sought to combine the two. For instance we have an early recording of Paul Scofield as the King using a conflated edition and a later recording from his eighties in which only the Folio is used: King Lear (Naxos AudioBooks), following as it states the The Tragedy of King Lear (The New Cambridge Shakespeare), a strictly First Folio presentation. The greatest available recording is of course the Branagh - Gielgud production King Lear (BBC Radio Presents) which must be purchased and repeatedly heard, as it is real. Be certain to get the accompanying brochure.

Be that as it may, with this brief description of the history of this tortured text, let me state this present edition from Folger presents solid reasons for its always arbitrary choices. While stating their preference for the First Folio edition, they actually publish here a conflated version, with variant readings in a variety of brackets and poiinted parentheses, with explanations. They have produced therefore something here of great value, yet at a small price and therefore accessible to any classroom, production company or reader.

As usual the Folger diverges from the usual Critical Edition format of a third of a page of text, a strip of variorum and a third of a page of notes to the text above. Folger correctly fids more readable a diptych approach. In opening the book to the play, the reader discovers on the right hand page the text and on the left hand page notes. Further specific notes are discovered in the back.

In short (if it is not too late to write that) this book may approach any other critical edition, and passes many (let us not mention the unfortunate Joe Pearce's attempt). It presents a thorough examination of Shakespeare's life and theatre, suggestions on reading "his" language, and on reading Lear, this great tragedy for our times. A critical essay by Susan Snyder is included in the back, as well as suggestions for further readings. I find this edition in brief very useful for any new scholar of Lear, and I only wish I could now afford the new King Lear: New Critical Essays (Shakespeare Criticism), or even Critical Essays on Shakespeare's King Lear (Critical Essays on British Literature), and the rest.

I never studied this one in school. I need the notes on the opposite page explaining the elizabethan terms, otherwise it is hard to follow. would not recommend shakespeare on kindle unless you are already very familiar with the play or pretty expert in language of that time period.

Originally Amy Lane published this series mentioning it was ‘for my kids’. I read the original self published edition in 2009. My original review is below and I wish to add that I salute the publishing house that has taken this masterpiece and given it new life.

In 2009 Amy Lane was an unknown aspiring Indie author with an enormous gift.. Today she has an substantial following and is a published author of many extremely wonderful stories; not genre oriented.. From Sci fi to UF to Fantasy to M/M Romance Amy Lane seems to shine! Below is my 2009 Review which I stand by today:

I have read Amy Lanes Little Goddess series and if you haven't this would also be a MUST!!!!!Bitter Moon 1 takes us to a mystical land, with very hard lessons. Torrant Shadow watches as his family and brothers of the heart are murdered. He holds Yari Moon a 6 yr old who is his lifemate and only survivor of the Moon family.
Their travels take them to Yari's uncle and Aunt Bethan and they are absorbed in a family with love and trust.

We follow this story and learn that in all communities...there are life lessons and the one that Ms Lane focus is on deals with religious freedoms and hatefulness.

Torrant now can have his hearts desire and marry his love or take on an entire army and king , to save all of his breatheran and his and Yari's future.

...this book is superb

About the Author
Mari�lle Hoefnagels is an associate professor in the Department of Biology and the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology at the University of Oklahoma, where she teaches courses in introductory biology, mycology, and science writing. She has received the University of Oklahoma General Education Teaching Award and the Longmire Prize (the Teaching Scholars Award from the College of Arts and Sciences). She has also been awarded honorary memberships in several student honor societies. Dr. Hoefnagels received her BS in environmental science from the University of California at Riverside, her MS in soil science from North Carolina State University, and her PhD in plant pathology from Oregon State University. Her dissertation work focused on the use of bacterial biological control agents to reduce the spread of fungal pathogens on seeds. In addition to authoring Biology: The Essentials and Biology: Concepts and Investigations, her recent publications have focused on creating investigative teaching laboratories and integrating technology into introductory biology classes. She also maintains a blog on teaching nonmajors biology, and she frequently gives presentations on study skills and related topics to student groups across campus.

Fantastic quality. There were some tiny imperfections, but nothing that was distracting or a deal breaker. I'm super happy with my purchase AND I saved myself $150 by buying a used copy online! Awesome deal! (Oh, and I have pretty high standards for used books)
