The Messianic Aleph Tav Interlinear Scriptures (MATIS) is the most unique Interlinear Study Bible of its kind in the world. MATIS is the first true Interlinear Study Bible to combine both the Paleo and the Babylonian Block Hebrew with a distinctive Hebrew translation for each word. The purpose of MATIS is to provide a Study Bible whereby each Hebrew word and its letters could be studied to obtain a deeper understanding of what the originators were trying to express. Charts are provided in the back of MATIS that break down both the potential meanings of the Hebrew letters and the Hebrew letter code used to translate the Hebrew. MATIS also incorporates the popular Strong's numbering system for each word in the interlinear section with a complete Strong's Hebrew Dictionary to provide for more in depth study. MATIS English translation began with the public domain version of the 1987 KJV and removed all the old English for easier reading. All English words originally used in the KJV for deities have also been replaced with their original Hebrew words. MATIS is also unique in regard to the Hebrew verses running in sequence from left to right with the English while the Hebrew individual words are written from right to left as originally written by the Sages for thousands of years. The word order the Hebrew verses are written is the exact order they were written originally except in reverse, which allows the verses to run parallel with the English. This combination is also unique and makes it easier for beginners to study the Hebrew language in comparison to both the Hebrew and English translations. The First Volume of MATIS is the TORAH with additional MATIS volumes being, volume two the WRITINGS, volume three the PROPHETS and volume four the B'rit Chadashah (New Testament). MATIS also furthers the journey of the study of the Aleph/Tav character symbol by revealing thousands of words that originally incorporate this symbol in Paleo Hebrew, and apparently for good reason!
MATIS is truly the perfect gift for the believer who is interested in studying Hebrew and desires to analyze each Hebrew word and the meaning of each Hebrew letter in the original Hebrew text in order to obtain a deeper understanding of what the originators, as well as our creator was trying to express in the Hebrew language. MATIS comes in your choice of either Red Letter or Bold Black 8.5x11 editions.

MY MOST VALUED BIBLE IS A PALEO--HEREW INTERLINEAR THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT DOWN
By Randy Orris
You must get this book. Reading some books can unlock visual pleasures of the mind and the heart, touching the very depths of your spirit. This is one of those rare books. MATIS is also a magnificent study tool that will usher you over the threshold of the Hebraic mindset into ancient truths that have remained untranslated for centuries, until now.
How many times have you held a good book in your hands, and thought “This book would be so close to perfect if it had only included certain features?” The MATIS is that one book that has it all between two beautiful covers. The physical book itself is a feast for the eyes; more about this later.
MATIS (Messianic Aleph Tav Interlinear Scriptures) TORAH [Volume One of a forthcoming Four Volume Set] allows you to immerse yourself in a total learning experience that no other book on earth provides. It is suitable for both scholar and student. Through MATIS I have enjoyed the fine art of savoring the Scriptures in order to see the Presence of the Divine Author and the revelation of the Messiah and the Mediator through the divine placement of the Aleph/Tav character symbols. THE ALEPH is the first letter the Hebrew Alphabet, and THE TAV is the final letter of that alphabet.
MATIS Volume One (THE TORAH) is an absolute first for the human race in accessing the Father’s will and word. As another reviewer perfectly wrote about Sanford’s previous book (The Messianic Aleph Tav Scriptures): “Something this awesome should not have been left unavailable to mankind for so long.”
MATIS is a complete study system, incorporating the best of both the Eastern world and the Western world approach of presenting the reading material on the printed page: this unique interlinear reads the English normally from left to right, while the individual Hebrew words are written right to left, only in the reverse order. For people wanting to study and are new to Hebrew, we get the best of both worlds, with the comfort of what we have been used to all our lives of reading from left to right. MATIS is the first and only 'true' interlinear to combine both Paleo and block Hebrew together, word for word. This feature alone causes it to stand out readability above all the other Hebrew-English Interlinears in the market place. I love this feature of MATIS.
MATIS is based around the concept of the placement of the 10,000 plus Aleph/Tav character symbol that have been embedded in the actual Semitic Scriptures from the beginning, but have all but been invisible to the eyes of English readers. Even so, some readers insist that the Aleph/Tav two-letter symbol only serves a grammatical function, that of an Direct Object pointer. They dismiss the idea entirely that there is any spiritual meaning to this mysterious and quite enigmatic two-letter symbol that appears over 10,000 times in the Tanakh. Even if that were totally the case (although the direct object pointer does not show up in thousands of places where a direct object pointer could be used, and isn’t), but the reasonable scholar and reader must ask why these two exact letters? Why not two other Hebrew letters placed together to serve this grammatical function, or even just one stand-alone Hebrew letter used as a sign pointer?
What was the compelling reason that Moses and the Prophets chose to use the Aleph (the first) and the Tav (the last) Hebrew letters together side-by-side, and why are they placed exactly where they were in thousands of places? I am convinced, as is the author, that the Brit Chadasha (NT) gives us the Divine Author’s purpose through the words of the Messiah Himself when He said in Rev. 1:8 (and other verses in the Apocalypse), “I AM the Aleph and the Tav, says Adonai Yahuah Elohim, who is, and was, and is to come, the Almighty-Maintainer-of-All” in the Aramaic Peshitta New Testament Scriptures. In the MATIS the Aleph Tav Himself (Yahusha HaMaschiach) is fully set forth in All His Glory. It is the Signature of the Messiah, the Mark of the Covenant, the Strength of the Covenant, inexorably pointing to the Sacrifice of the Cross, te Redeemer’s Fingerprints, opening new widows into the divine presence.
Through the strategic placement of the Aleph/Tavs in the Tanakh (Old Testament) the Yah-head reveals the Personal Presence of the Messiah and the Mediator in these passages, as well as documenting the Unity and the Functioning of the Father and His Son working together as One in the drama of redemption. The Introduction of MATIS perfectly elucidates this discovery.
MATIS IS “THE STUDY TORAH” FOR A LIFETIME OF LEARNING
All serious talmadiym (learning disciples) appreciate the vitality of THE TORAH in our personal relationship with Elohim. It is such an important part of our lives. Without the Torah we would not know the roots of our redemption, or comprehend the deeper moral dimensions of the torah of Yahuah. Through MATIS we are for the first time enabled to study and to learn each individual letter of the early Paleo-Hebrew alphabet and picture language of the Torah. Learning to read the Hebrew Bible is not beyond your ability.
WHY AN INTERLINEAR? The interlinear will immediately plunge you into the understanding of each Hebrew word in the Scriptures. This format gives you several parallel lines of information for every verse of the TORAH, which will include both Paleo and Hebrew words, Strong’s Dictionary numbers for every word, a phonetic pronunciation of every word, and a literal English translation of the sentence (in addition to this the complete Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary is provided at the back of this book). You will be actually reading and speaking and pronouncing the original sounds of the Abri (Hebrew) text as ‘Alohiym intended. I cannot overemphasize the value of hearing your own voice speaking these Hebraic vibrations as you approach Yahuah through His word. It will take you to another level of prayer to converse in the actual sounds of creation when you speak with the Creator.
WHY PALEO-HEBREW? This alphabet displays the raw power of the original letters (without vowel points) before your eyes. There were no Masoretic Vowel Points present in the earliest Scriptures. This system was the invention of the rabbis of the School of Tiberius (in the ninth century CE/AD). By doing this they attached their understanding to the words and names in their texts of the Hebrew Bible. This complex system of arbitrarily placing these niqqud vowel points into every Hebrew word complicates the mastery of learning this rich language for those students who are beginning to study Hebrew for the first time.
The Paleo Hebrew language is primary. It is the bedrock, the fountain-head, the source of all other languages. This interlinear is very unique. There has never been a Torah printed like this. It shows the Paleo Hebrew font with the block Hebrew font together, in true interlinear form for the first time, and the Hebrew translation also uses the letter 'U' to represent the letter Vav (which is a detail of accuracy that I really appreciate). This Study Bible is not for the casual observer but for those interested in studying Hebrew letter by letter, word by word, for a more complete understanding of what the original authors were trying to say. You will continually have the opportunity to study each letter of every word, associating it with its original visual and conceptual meaning.
WHY THE ALEPH TAVS? Again, ALEPH is the first letter and TAV is the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. When these two letters are placed together they form a word concept that almost never gets translated into English Bibles, except in the MATIS. One reviewer of Sanford’s earlier books wrote: “When I first saw the Aleph/Tav in Gen 1:1 I wept.” The Scriptures, quite frankly, are incomplete without this dynamic character symbol. In the MESSIANIC ALEPH-TAV SCRIPTURES the Aleph/Tav letter symbols are placed within the English exactly where the Holy Spirit originally inscripturated them.
Another reviewer said concerning the visibility of the Aleph/Tabs: “I have come to realize that the Aleph/Tav (Y’shua) is the Master of Ceremonies of the Tanakh and that the Father has given Him a Power of Attorney (Carte Blanche) to act and speak in His name in all things relating to interacting with mankind. The centrality of Aleph/Tav (Y’shua) and His strength of covenant relation in the Tanakh is powerful and makes sense now like never before. The strength of the revelation that this translation of the Hebrew text allays to me is as profound as my conversion to the Messianic Hebrew faith was.”
In learning Hebrew, vocabulary is the most important aspect of comprehension and understanding. The Strong’s tools are indispensable towards this end. The Hebrew fonts in MATIS are very legible and precise, again without the Jewish vowel points which were added later by scribes.
But Sanford not only included all the stand-alone Aleph/Tav symbols (over 10,000,of them), he also has all of the variations where the Aleph/Tav letters are revealed in other Hebrew words and phrases. He provides supplemental information through his many You-tube videos (also made available in his Facebook Group) which explains the meaning of the Aleph/Tavs. While studying the flow of the text, it is so easy to turn to the Hebrew Lexicon in the back for a deeper understanding of each word of the TORAH.
The immense convenience of having in hand within the same volume the Strong’s Numbering and Hebrew Dictionary is of infinite value to the student.
EVERY PAGE OF MATIS BREATHES THE LIFE OF THE YAH-HEAD
It is my pastoral and professional opinion that the Name of the Creator is the Supreme Revelation of our existence. For myself, and my fifty year quest to get as close to the English pronunciation of the Four Letter Tetragram (YHUH) as possible, I am fully satisfied that the most accurate English word is spelled Yahuah (in deference of or in preference to the much used terms of Yahweh, or Jehovah, or other variations). MATIS uses the Name YAHUAH every time the Tetragram shows up in the text! This, of course, is to my great delight and appreciation of Sanford’s books. To my knowledge it is the only Hebrew-English Interlinear that discloses all of the Divine Names and Titles.
I have no doubt that His Eternal Name is YAHUAH, and on every page of the Tanakh you see the Messiah’s Presence, you hear His voice, and you see His face!
Every Aleph/Tav combination, and every Elohiym-given breath, of the original manuscripts is revealed in clear, pure English. Thank you William Sanford for your meticulous scholarship and your Hebrew heart to produce the MATIS. May the Ruach spread it widely across the earth in these days.
Part of the covenant experience with YHUH is our enjoyment of chewing on the Scriptures through meditation. MATIS was designed with this function in mind: to receive the nourishment of the Divine Life itself as you study and ponder the words and the letters created and chosen by El-Elyon to communicate His mind to us.
The Paleo Hebrew Charts at the back brings a new level of understanding to the variegated meanings of each word, helping you to establish connections between letters and words that you have never seen before.
William H. Sanford’s generous ALEPH-TAV COMMENTARY ALERTS also located at the back of the book are deep meditations on how the Yah-head [Father and Son] work together in UNITY through Father's Spirit, revealing the "Strength of the Covenant." Sanford's regular expositions and graphics on Aleph/Tav words in our Facebook Study Group are worth getting up in the morning to read. Okay, I’m hooked.
The author has poured his life, and literally spared no effort, into making this a one of a kind Study Bible so that the reader researcher can study for themselves the placement of this Divine Symbol, that even the revered Rabbi Akiva heralded as “the secret sign of G-d, the silent cipher that embraces all the other words of the Torah, and indeed of all creation” indicating that the Aleph/Tav directly defines Elohim. Born in 50 AD and martyred in 135 AD these words coming from Rabbi Akiva are not to be taken lightly for Akiva is one of the greatest figures in Jewish history whose influence and stature is a source of inspiration throughout all of the ages. Other renowned rabbis have alluded to the Aleph/Tav as “the presence of the Divine Hand,” and “an amplification of something infinitely beyond and higher than what appears on the page.”
I am aware that there are other Hebrew-English Interlinear books that are available. Among all these other offerings, not one of them has an apparatus to specifically identify the Aleph/Tavs (along with highlighting their precise placement in the text) or the placement of the Hebraic Divine Names. The following is a listing of the most popular Hebrew-English Interlinears, along with the translation of Genesis 1:1 provided for your comparison:
THE INTERLINEAR NIV HEBREW-ENGLISH OLD TESTAMENT by John R. Kohlenger III, 1987, Zondervan Publishing House, renders Gen. 1:1, “ in-beginning he-created God *** the-heavens and the-earth.”
THE HEBREW-ENGLISH INTERLINEAR ESV NEW TESTAMENT by Thom Blair, General Editor, 2014, Crossway Publishing renders Gen. 1:1, “in-beginning he-created God *** the-heavens and the earth.”
THE INTERLINEAR BIBLE (Strong’s Concordance Numbers, but without the Lexicon) by Jay P. Green, Sr., 1986, Hendrickson Publishers renders Gen. 1:1, “in the beginning created God the heavens and the earth.”
THE MESSIANIC ALEPH TAV INTERLINEAR SCRIPTUIRES (Strong’s Concordance Numbers with Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary) by William H. Sanford, 2015, CCB Publishing renders Gen. 1:1, “In (the) beginning created Elohim ‘at [ALPEH/TAV] the heaven (and) ua’at [ALEPH/TAV] the earth.”
Plus you are also given this phonetic pronunciation of Genesis 1:1, “barashiyt bara’ ‘alohiym ‘at hashamayim ua’at ha’aretz.”
You will discover every Aleph/Tav clearly identified from Gen. 1:1 (with its two Aleph/Tavs) to its last appearance in the final chapter of Deuteronomy in Deut. 34:9, with the sentence: “And Y’hoshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for had laid Moses [ALEPH/TAV] his hands upon him: and the children of Israel listened to him and did as commanded YAHUAH [ALEPH/TAV] Moses.” Just a note of interest, the last verse of the final chapter of Deuteronomy closes with the term “kal Yisra’el” [all Israel] (using the Hebrew letters Kaph-Lamed Yod-Shin-Resh-Aleph-Lamed).
How many copies of, translations of, and interlinear editions of the TORAH (and the entire Tanakh) reveal and expand upon the working relationships within the Yah-head? I know of none, except one. The only one in existence is MATIS.
A personal observation from myself on some other book reviews on Amazon of William Sanford’s books: as an author myself I find it somewhat intriguing when I see a pattern that persistently shows up in Amazon book reviews. Such seems to be the case with MATS and MATIS reviews. There certainly appears to be a reviewer (or reviewers) who are obsessed with denigrating Sanford’s works to exclusively promote the NIV-Interlinear. This is done consistently with the reviews on all of Sanford’s books, to the point of that reviewer making “comments” on other people’s reviews to the effect that they will get a “better deal” for their money with the NIV-Interlinear!
That is certainly a subjective opinion, and not one based on scholarship. Having a personal library in excess of 10,000 books, I can safely speak about the possible merits and possible demerits of all extant OT Interlinears (as well as NT Interlinears). In my estimation, just for starters, there is no comparison between the NIV-Interlinear with the superiority of the now published ESV-Interlinear. However, with that said, for my money, and for my own spiritual edification, there is nothing even close to the MATIS. The other Interlinears are full Tanakhs, whereas MATIS will be published in four volumes: Volume 1 is THE TORAH, Volume 2 will be THE WRITINGS, Volume 3 will be THE PROPHETS, and Volume 4 will be THE BRIT CHADASHA (New Testament). A lifetime library of unparalleled knowledge.
A THING (BOOK) OF BEAUTY IS A JOY FOREVER
You have to hold the MATIS in your hands to feel the luxury of this Torah. No space is wasted. It is crammed with study helps. Right on the cover of the book you have BOTH alphabets (Paleo and Modern) presented together; the design of the cover is beautiful in its own right, giving the reader an impetus to open the treasure house of truth within its pages.
The cover with its rich colors and dual display of the Paleo-Hebrew and Modern-Hebrew Alphabets together is stunning. The actual interior format of the text pages is most satisfying to the eyes, drawing you into the Hebrew flavor of Father’s Covenant with His Son.
You have to read it ... study it ... and immerse yourself in its rich and deep revelations of our precious "Aleph/Tav" Messiah and His Father in the Protocol of the Yah-head ... in order to catch this glimpse of Glory.
There is nothing like it in print. Obtain it, and drink generously from the wells of salvation that are now available from this Study Bible. The MATIS literally keeps expanding right in front of my eyes, as the Spirit opens up the depths of all the Aleph/Tavs in this Paleo Hebrew- English Interlinear TORAH.
As far as I’m concerned, MATIS [Messianic Aleph-Tav Interlinear Scriptures] is the gold standard of all TORAHS that I have studied. It is a rare gift for hungry hearts who thirst for the truth, revealed in a way that the English language has never seen before. The MATIS is the most amazing and valuable book I own in my entire library.
It is truly the “Holy Grail of Scripture” that will take you to a new, almost unimaginable level of learning and lifetime study. Work with it. Use it in your devotionals. Teach from it. Trust me that it is an unexpected thrill to see the authentic Paleo Hebrew words page after page in the Sacred text of Scripture.

It is interesting about the Aleph Tav and I love the fact it has the ancient Hebrew ,the Hebrew used today and the English with Strong's one above the other. It is great for study. The reason for only 4 stars is that Without his Utube videos discussing his thoughts on the Alpha Tav I wouldn't have gotten as much out of it. It is wonderful otherwise. Everyone is different and has a different learning curve...
